General information:

Little Mia was about 14 mths old when she arrived at the shelter. She had been kept in a small cage because the other cats on the owners property kept attacking her. Unfortunately the cage didn't help, it just meant she couldn't get away when they put their legs through the bars to claw at her. Mia spent the first couple of weeks peeking at me from behind a small basket. She then graduated to peeking at me between the basket and the handle. Slowly she worked her way into the basket. Now I can't get her off my darned bed. I think I went a little too far in building up her confidence and her trust that I'd always be there for her if she needed me because now it's her having a crack at the other cats whenever they get to close to me. She loves the dogs though. I guess that's something at least. She's mellowed a little and now she really enjoys her pats but I'm still the only one who can pick her up and get away with it. Many of the volunteers have fallen madly in love with her as well. Due to her health issues Mia will be a long term resident and we'll ensure that she gets the best vet care available as she gets older. If you feel you'd like to help with Mias day to day care by sponsoring her please click on the sponsor me link at the bottom of this post. Once you've completed your application and set up your sponsorship amount please email Nat at and she'll be happy to add you to our sponsorship list and organise a Sponsorship Certificate for you. Thank you.
